Woof woof, Briar, speaking. :) I have some super cool news! We just got a new library assistant, Christina Torkelson. She’s so awesome and she has two really neat kiddos that come see me at the library, Solomon and Irene. They love me and like to play with me. That makes me happy. My mom is so excited to have Christina work with her at the library. Christina loves kids just like my mom does. Although I really wish Hans was staying. I love Hans. He’s a super tall guy, but he always bends down to pet me when I greet him (and Mom says I greet him far too enthusiastically, whatever that means). Mom is pretty bummed Hans is leaving. She really appreciates him and hopes this change is good for him. 😊 Mom visited the high school homeroom classes this past Wednesday and Friday mornings. She’s putting together a Library Youth Council for teen programming for our community. She has a couple more classes to hit this week then they’ll begin the journey of teen programming for the coming year. I just hope the teenagers like me. Maybe they will let me lick their faces! (Mom hates it when I do that.) I love making new friends. Our summer reading program is about to begin. Sign-ups for children, youth, and adults will begin at the library on Tuesday, May 30th!! Our theme this year is “Paws to Read!” (Mom says my paws are HUGE, but they seem just right to me!) There are lots of fun activities for all ages. Mom says reading is for everyone from tall to small and that reading can take you anywhere you want to go. I really like the books about bovines, no wait, equines…no, that’s not right…dogs. I like the books about dogs…yup, dogs. Here is the regular library line-up:

What activities, classes, or get-togethers of any kind would you like to see the Malvern Public Library provide for our community? Call my Mom, Lisa Formhals, or, Christina Torkelson, your assistant librarian, at the library (712-624-8554) to give your input on what activities you’d like to have offered at your library. May you get to play ball a whole bunch, Briar, the library puppy.
