Meowy Greetings, Thistle here. Can you believe the weather we were having?! My mom had to close the library for inclu…incli…bad weather. (Sorry, I can’t spell inclement.) I thought the wind was going to blow everything away! We also closed for Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas. It feels like we haven’t been to the library in FOREVER!! Briar and I were talking about how much we missed seeing all the people at the library this last week. (I look forward to the break I get from my sister trying to put my head in her mouth when people come to visit us at the library, but don’t tell Briar I said so.) We’re having a super cool Health Fair at the library on Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 10:00am – 2:00pm. (I almost typed 2022!) Have I mentioned that typing without opposable thumbs takes a long time? Sometimes I get fat paw and hit the wrong keys. Then I have to back up and start over...) So Mom says at this health fair there will be people there to share information on many different aspects of your health, from lots of different businesses and organizations. She says some will have information on physical health, which is supposed to be about your body, and some will talk about your mental health, which is how you think about things, I think. There will be yummy healthful snacks available for purchase if you get a little hungry while you’re having a look around. We’d love to see you there! Mom says it’s the time of year that people make reserv…resul…new goals and that our good health is one of the most important things we have. She says she needs to get back on the healthful train this year. My Mom says some of the weirdest things. We have a question for all of you and would love for you to call the library and give us your opinion on the matter. We’re thinking of having a city-wide scavenger hunt this coming spring for all ages to enjoy. We’d like to ask all of our local businesses and organizations to join in the fun. There may even be some prizes in the mix. Call us and let us know what you think. (712-624-8554) We’re open to suggestions, whatever those are. Don’t forget to look into our Brainfuse program on our website if you need some extra help on your homework, whether you’re in kindergarten or college. Just go to malvernlibrary.weebly.com, click on services, then click on BRAINFUSE. You’ll be glad you did. We invite you to come to the Malvern Public Library and enjoy our beautifully decorated, and fun to play in, world of possibilities. We hope you had a very Meowy Christmas, Happy Boxing Day, and that you will have a very Happy New Year! Thistle, the Library Kitten

Woof woof greetings,
This is Briar speaking. Did you know that we have some new books and movies in our library? Mom said I should share them with you. There’s this particularly cool one called Claus: Legend of the Fat Man. I thought it sounded rude, but mom says it’s supposed to be descriptive so people will know they are talking about Santa Claus. She said portly might be a better word than fat, whatever portly means. Anyway, you can read about it in the book summary section. Mom says if anyone likes the book that there are nine more books in the series…AND…she said she could order more of them if the first one is well received!! I love it when I find a new author and series that has so many yummy books in it! It’s like a Christmas present. Thistle and I were big helpers when Mom was taking a picture of the book for you. Oh yeah, Mom said to tell you we have new movies at the Malvern Public Library. Below is a synopsis of Avengers: Infinity War, followed by a list of other new titles in our collection. "The Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet -- the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment." I think the Avengers are soooooo cool! I’m going to be a superhero when I grow up.:) Oh, here are the movies: PG: 1. Leave No Trace 2. Luca 3. The Mitchells vs. the Machines PG-13: 1. Avengers: Infinity War 2. In the Heights 3. Mission Impossible: Fallout 4. Ready Player One 5. Shang-Chi: Legend of the Ten Rings 6. Three Identical Strangers 7. West Side Story R: 1. Molly's Game 2. The Power of the Dog 3. The Rider We also have some Christmas movie favorites like Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, It’s a Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause, and Elf, among others. So come on down and check out some Christmas fun. We can arrange for special due dates if you need an item longer than its usual checkout time. Well, if you’d like to pet me or my sister, Thistle, you are more than welcome to come to see us at the library. We’re usually at work with Mom on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We’d love to see you! May you all have a most wonderful and Merry Christmas!! Maybe Santa will bring me a new bone! Until next time, Briar, the Library Puppy Meow to all,
Thistle here. Just wanted to share with you some cool things happening at the library. Did you know that a group of super neat people come in for story time at 10:00 am on Mondays?! I love to see them and play with them. After story time, we did a floor puzzle together. I helped by climbing in the box. After the puzzle, the kids colored a sweet picture of Santa. I had trouble with the coloring…opposable thumbs are my nemesis. This last week on Wednesday, December 7th, we had a ton of people flood into the library with all this strange-looking stuff. My Mom said they were a filming crew and that it seemed like a ton of people but there were only 20 of them. It was a ton to me! My sister, Briar, had the time of her life. Most of the crew were oooing and awwwing over both of us. Briar and I were in heaven…we LOVE people. The filming crew didn’t film Briar and me. They were here to film my super good friends, whom I love and adore, Mary Beth Costello and Beverly Dashner. (They always give me special hugs and loves.) I wanted to get in the film with them, but all the filming was done in the archives and Mom made us stay upstairs. There were a lot of crew members upstairs too, so it wasn’t all bad. Mom says they are doing a documentary film about Mulholland’s Grocery and the history behind it. I can’t wait until it comes out! I haven’t met Tom Mulholland, yet, but I hear he’s a great guy and is very invested in our community. I’m excited to meet him. The whole town seems to be waiting with bated breath for his new store to open. We have an interesting Health Fair coming to the library this January. It’s on Saturday, January 7th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. There will be several booths about different aspects of your health to help you get a great start on those New Year resolutions. Did you know that pets are good for your health? Yeah, they are…and they are cute and cuddly. Well, some of them are, like me and Briar. Mom and Hans have put out even more new books and movies! Come check them out! Until next time, take care, and thank you for reading my Library Tails. Tons of kitten love, Thistle – Your Library Kitten Woof Woof,
My name is Briar. I’m the new library puppy. I was born on September 28, 2022. I’m learning to be a therapy dog. I don’t know what that is but my Mom and Dad are excited about it so I am too. My big sister, Thistle (whom you may have met last week), and I go to work at the library with our Mom. I wasn’t so sure about the riding in the car thing, but I’m getting used to it. I love it when people come to see me at the library. I like it when people pet me, and I like to play retrieving games. I’m a Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix. I’m all black right now, but Mom says many German Shepherd puppies are born black. She says my coat can change colors until I’m two years old. I didn’t know that! Things have been busy at the library. The Friends of the Library had this awesome Tour of Homes community activity. It was very well attended and people were happy and filled with the Christmas Spirit. It was super nice of all those homeowners to share their beautiful homes with us. I heard the Festival of Trees was amazing as well and that the children loved seeing Santa in the Wortman cabin. Mom says I should say, “Thank you” to MABA, The Friends of the Library, and everyone who helps make our town beautiful. How blessed we are to live in this great town. Mom says that the friends of the library are preparing a big health fair to be held at our library in January 2023. I hear there may be some yummy healthy treats there, too. I hope Mom and Dad let me attend the fair! Mom and Hans have been busy ordering new books and movies for all of you to check out. So come on over and see what we’ve got to share with you. I love it when you stop to say hello to me and my sister. It makes our day brighter. We hope we make your day a little brighter too. Until next time…woof woof, Briar, the Library Pupp |
