WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A LIBRARY CARD?
Residents of the State of Iowa in the following cities are eligible for a library card:
Emerson, Essex, Glenwood, Griswold, Henderson, Hastings, Imogene, Malvern, Mineola, New Market, Randolph, Sidney, Silver City, Tabor

Children under the age of 7 are not eligible for their own library card and must rely on a parent or guardian having a card of their own to accompany them to the library and check out materials.
Children 7 years and older may apply for their own library card with permission from a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must visit the library in person to help the child set up their own library card patron account.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A LIBRARY CARD?

Bring in photo identification AND proof of current address on a piece of mail.

HOW DO I USE MY LIBRARY CARD?

Checking out books and other materials: Items may be checked out on your own card.  Patrons having their own card or those eligible to have their own card are NOT permitted to use another person's library card. Fines on an account at or exceeding $3.00 automatically suspends the ability to check out materials until the fines are paid.

Returning items: Items can be returned at the front circulation desk or via the drop-box parallel to the front entrance outside of the building.

Renewing items: Items can be renewed by phone or in person if the item doesn't have a reserve list.

Overdues, fines and billing: We are fine free.

Reserving an item: Items can be reserved online, by phone, e-mail, or in person.

Loan limits: Most items are loaned for 3 weeks; exceptions are DVDs for 1 week at a limit of 3 per household.
