FRIENDS OF THE MALVERN PUBLIC LIBRARY
LOCAL HISTORY & GENEALOGY RESEARCH POLICY
& FEE SCHEDULE
Our archival collection is closed to walk-in patrons. We have 2 volunteers who provide research services when they are available. They are not paid staff and are not usually on location. Please call the library to make an appointment.
REFERENCE SERVICE DIFFERS FROM RESEARCH:
We will provide REFERENCE SERVICE at no charge when the patron can provide a specific location of an item. An example is a request for a copy of a Malvern Leader article from the November 6, 1960 issue. Photocopying, postage and handling fees will apply (see below).
RESEARCH REQUESTS involve searches for unspecified material about a particular subject which may be located in one or more locations. An example is a request for copies of articles in the Malvern Leader about Homecoming during the 1960s. Additional fees will be assessed for photocopying, postage and handling. As our research is done by volunteers, please allow 3 weeks for your request to be processed.
All materials may be subject to the limitations stated in the Copyright Act of 1976. See:
http://www.copyright.gov/title17/.
RESEARCH FEES:
The Archives Department will determine on a case by case basis which requests it can undertake.
Local History or Family History request ------> 1 HR. = No Charge
Research Fee -------> $10.00 per/HR after 1 HR
If nothing is found, no more than one hour's charge will be assessed. If more than one hour is required, the patron will be notified before additional fees are charged.
PHOTOCOPYING FEES:
Photocopying is done only for items in the department's collections. Patrons may use photocopiers in the department for $0.25 per copy for personal use.
Postage and handling fees are a minimum of $5.00.
Photo scanning for email or photocopying are $5.00 per photo.
