Meeooowww, Thistle, here. :) Last Monday we had an Easter Egg Hunt with our Little Tykes Story Time. It was so much fun. I love batting things around and plastic eggs make perfect targets. Mom’s getting things together and preparing for the summer reading program. Our theme this year is “Paws to Read!” Briar and I think it’s paw inspiring, I mean awe inspiring (whatever that means). There are lots of fun activities for all ages. Mom says reading is for everyone from tall to small. It’s just that opposable thumbs make it easier to hold the books. Anyway, I’m excited to spend more time with the kids when school gets out. I love getting snuggles and petses. This past Saturday we had a Team Lego Building Contest. Eighteen people and five teams competed. Fantastic creations were made while we all enjoyed the time together. Our first-place team was the Cool Cougars comprised of Dad, Bryant Rasmussen, and his two sons, Jacob, 9yrs old and Noah, 5yrs old. Great work team Cool Cougars!! Second place went to team Legotoriums comprised of Dad, Andrew Torkelson, son, Solomon 9 yrs old, and daughter, Irene, 5yrs old. Way to go, team Legotoriums!! Third place was awarded to Team Family Fun comprised of Mom, Jennifer Hensheid, Dad, Tyler Hensheid, daughters, Gianna, 9yrs old, Raelynn, 7yrs old, Cambria, 2yrs old, and son, Nolan, 5yrs old. Awesome team work Team Family Fun!! Our honorable mentions were team Rainbow Rangers and The Olsens team. All of their creations will be on display at the library for the next several weeks. Come on over and take a gander. Mom said to remind you that the Malvern Public Library has a new policy for check outs. There are no longer late fees and the length of time for check outs has changed. Books can be checked out for 3 weeks with renewals as long as there are no holds by other patrons. Dvds can be checked out for a week, instead of two days, and6 you can renew them if there are no holds on them. So, if you had late fees on your account, you no longer do. Come in and see for yourself. We’ll do a victory dance together! And then you can give me petses.:) Here is what’s happening at the library on a regular basis:
Saturdays (most activities appropriate for school age children and families):
Special closure dates- My Mom and Dad are going to Italy to visit their non-furry kids and grandkids in April so the library will be closed on several of the days that Mom is gone. The library will be unusually closed on:
We are so sorry to have to close on those days, but do not have any trained staff that is available to take over on those particular days. We hope you will be able to get what you need from the library on the days we are open. Library hours will return to normal on Wednesday, May 3rd. Thank you so much for your understanding. My Mom is so excited to hold and kiss her grandchildren. It’ll have been a year since she last saw them. (Grandma’s are so sentimental…) Also, Library Tails will not run for the two weeks Briar and I are not there at the library. We will pick up with volume 22 of Library Tails when we come back to the library. Hans said he would do the book and movie summaries, though. Special Programming:
What activities, classes, or get-togethers of any kind would you like to see the Malvern Public Library provide for our community? Call my Mom, Lisa Formhals, or, Hans Leitner, your assistant librarian, at the library (712-624-8554) to give your input on what activities you’d like to have offered at your library. May your purrs be ever strong, Thistle, the library kitten.
