The Library Monthly
By Rebecca Bassich, Library Director May has been a very productive month for our Malvern Public Library. Some new and ongoing developments include the addition of three book sections tailored to young adult readers (Manga, Comic Book, & Graphic Novel), a most regal reading corner complete with cozy chairs and a state-of-the-art LED reader’s lamp, and a variety of free programs open to the public that aim to make literacy both fun and accessible for all ages. You see, the library does so much more than simply lend out books! Some of these programs include our all-new Writer’s Club, Book Club, Yoga class, daily Book Trivia and more. Some older programs are experiencing minor adjustments, as well. Starting on June 4th, for instance, the Little Tykes Reading Hour officially moves from weekdays to Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. Storytime is a great opportunity for the young ones to start exploring their imaginations, developing a love of reading and to also enjoy getting to know other little tykes. Bring your friends! Whether you write professionally or just for fun, the Writer’s Club is another wonderful program to enjoy! Critiques, coffee and friendly conversation are all part of the fun. If you just want to come in to share a story you’ve been working on, we’re here for that, too. Announcements The 10th Annual Race the Trace 5K Run & Walk is taking place at the Wabash Trace Nature Trail Depot on Saturday, June 18th with check-ins starting at 7:30 a.m. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. Participant registration forms & waivers are available at the Malvern Public Library. Pre-registrants must designate t-shirt by June 1st. Check out the Malvern Public Library's ongoing 2016 Big Book Sale! Books for 25¢, DVD's for $1, free magazines & more - all are gently used and priced to sell! Don't miss it!
