GRANT RECEIVED FOR NEW HYDRATION STATION: The Friends of the Malvern Public Library recently received a grant through the Southwest Iowa Community Foundation for an ambitious new project: its Hydration Station! We love it, and with the hot summer months just around the corner, we know you’ll love it, too! BOOK CLUB READER’S REVIEWS: Humans of New York A Review by Karen Bassich “If you love picture books, Humans of New York is a joy to read. The photos inspire and share an electric, perhaps contagious positive motivation to aspire to true individuality, your uniqueness. It leaves you thinking, ‘I can do that!’” Picnic in Provence: A Memoir with Recipes by Elizabeth Bard, Author of Lunch in Paris A Review by Barbara Vorthmann “A funny, easy read about an American woman married to a Frenchman living in France, this is a modern-day story. It’s a delicious journey through France where Elizabeth and her husband move to the country and start an artisanal ice cream shop. It’s a book about the art of French motherhood, a family finding a new professional passion and a cook’s introduction to classic Provencal cuisine. Bard reminds us that life in and out of the kitchen is a rendezvous with the unexpected. I tried several of the recipes, and they were delicious. The recipes weren’t as sweet or salty as American cuisine but reminded me of being in Paris and enjoying the food.” This title is our new Book of the Month and is currently available for check out from our collection, so be sure to stop in and check it out for yourself. This one comes highly recommended from our very own Book Club, which meets regularly every Tuesday night at 5:00 pm. We would love to see you there!
